Hello smolder! Okay so that isn’t exactly “Outlander” but I’ve peaked your interest right? Outlander is the first book in the series by Diana Gabaldon set in the Scottish Highlands in the 18th century. The 8th book will be released June 9th.
The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon–when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach–an “outlander”–in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life…and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire…and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
From one book worm to another it was a HARD read, 870 pages to be exact. It took me 2 tries to get through it, but it was so worth it… romance, action, history, interesting characters. Starz has picked up the series and there is a TV show coming August 9th and I am so excited.
I love seeing a book come to life on a large and small screen. When I am reading, I can never get the setting just right and this series has a wonderful setting, Scotland! The trailers and set pictures that have been released are beautiful. And of course Sam Heughan is hot! He has to be to be our wonderful JAMMF!! (If you don’t know that acronym, get to reading!!) Plus add the accent and I’m melted!
Will you be watching this summer? Let us know!!
