The first teaser trailer for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” premiered tonight during “Fear the Walking Dead” and we have so many questions and theories! Check it out below and then we will discuss:
Okay so someone is looking for Jack Sparrow… Big surprise right? The creepy dude in question is Captain Salazar played by Javier Bardem.
My biggest question in this teaser is… “WHERE IS WILL TURNER”. We all know that Orlando Bloom has been confirmed as returning as Captain of the Flying Dutchman. We know that Elizabeth Turner (Kiera Knightly) has his heart in a chest and is supposed to be keeping it safe. (She is not scheduled to be in THIS movie) We also know that it will be 10 years since “At Worlds End“ was in theaters when the newest in the series premieres. . Here-in lies my theory. At the end of “At Worlds End“-past the credits, we get to see Elizabeth Turner and her SON waiting for Will to return to land- 10 years later. (The captain of the Dutchman can only go ashore once every 10 years)
Presumably Will Turner will be returning to land in this movie, it’s been ten years after all, and I would guess he would want to be reuniting with his son, RIGHT!? Let’s do the math! “At World’s End” came out in 2007, “Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be released in 2017. It’s obvious that Will and Elizabeth’s un-named son is 9/10 years old, which would make him about 19/20 years old now if we follow the Pirates timeline.
In the trailer, Captain Salazar asks the young man only named “Henry” according to IMDB if he knows who Jack Sparrow is. He answers that he’s heard of him. I think that “Henry” is “Henry Turner”. I mean DUH of course he would have heard of Jack Sparrow with Elizabeth as his mom. A Pirate Lord herself. The actor portraying Henry– Brenton Thwaites is definitely the right age to portray Will’s son, don’t you think?
Could we be meeting Will and Elizabeth Turner’s son in “Dead Men Tell No Tales”!? We certainly hope so! Let us know if you agree with our theory in the comments!
